Fans of the Great Race in Canada, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York have been anxiously awaiting the 2012 event having seen the route map for many months in Hemmings Motor News, Hagerty Magazine and this web site. And now they can see the locations and times for the event in each of the 20 cities.
The Great Race will begin Saturday, June 23, in downtown Traverse City, Mich., and it will wind its way through big and small towns alike between there and the Grand Finish at The Henry Ford in Dearnborn, Mich., on Sunday, July 1. Most lunch stops will begin around 11:30 a.m. and most overnight stops will begin around 4:30 p.m. Stops will last between 2 ½ and 3 hours and vary from Water Avenue in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., overlooking the Soo Locks that separate the United States and Canada to beautiful downtown Barrie, Ontario, at Heritage Park overlooking the lake to the village of Fairport, N.Y., along the Erie Canal.
