Lusk, Wyoming will be the lunch stop on Thursday, June 23, as the Great Race heads out of Cheyenne for Rapid City, South Dakota. Lusk is a small town on the frontier that holds the distinction of being the county seat of the least populated county in the least populated state in the country. But what the town lacks in size they will make up with enthusiasm when the Great Race cars start rolling into town at 11:15 a.m. at the county Fairgrounds. With a population of 1,200, Lusk will not be the smallest venue on the Great Race this year; that honor will belong to Austin, Nevada with a population of less than 150.
Racers will get an hour off in Lusk before heading toward the Black Hills of South Dakota, including a side trip to see Honest Abe Lincoln and his three friends on Mount Rushmore.
Welcome to Lusk! If you have an RV, come on in to B.J.’s Campground with full hook-ups and long pull-throughs! 307-334-2314
