Well, in only 3 days all 117 cars from the year 1972, and below, from all over the world will begin their journey from Kirkwood, Missouri to Santa Monica, California. I am extremely excited about this year’s race, I think its going to be a little bit different than some of the races I have previously experienced for a few reasons. I am both very interested, and anxious to get to know new people who are going to be a part of the tour. It’s going to be pretty amazing to see the outstanding variety of vintage cars travel together as one, big, happy, event. It’s an option that has never been available as a Great Race event although I think it will only make the Great Race bigger, and better. The more, the merrier!

There is another reason why I am stoked for this years race; number 66 is taking on Route 66. While the Great Race is a very fun, lively, thrilling environment it is also an extremely competitive event for my family. This will be the 5th Great Race since Pawpaw passed away. My Mom, and Jody have come so close to winning each year, they have made it extremely clear that they are most definitely someone to look out for. I feel with much confidence that this year is our year. I have an unlimited amount of faith in the two, they are some of the most determined, and hardworking people I know.

My flight does not leave until Thursday. However my bags had to be packed by Tuesday which is when my cousins, Jody, Kali, and their son Jarrett took the rally car to Kirkwood.

As I began to pack I couldn’t help but become excited as memories from previous races began to dance through my head. It’s is so hard to believe that it’s already time to go make more this year, but don’t get me wrong I am not complaining! I plan to write as much as I possibly can about each day after I arrive in Kirkwood on Thursday.
