As you likely saw on here on Greatrace.com, our 20-plus year veteran announcer, MotorMouth could not join us this year. He suffered a stroke, but he is expected to make a full recovery and join our traveling circus again next year. The entire Great Race crew is saddened by MotorMouth’s health scare, but we know that the show must go on. With that said, we’re bringing in a couple of guys who know they’re way around old cars. First is “Honest Mike” Goodman, who made his living selling hot rod parts for Honest Charley Speed Shop for many years. He recently retired, but when the announcer position needed to be filled, he was the first person that Corky Coker called upon. Speaking of Corky, he will be joining Mike on the “mic” and you can bet these two are going to have a good time and keep the spectators laughing the whole time. The goal is to entertain the crowd, while 120 vintage cars and trucks roll through each hosted city stop, and these guys have what it takes!
Today’s the big day! Go get ‘me “Honest” Mike & Corky!
All the best from “MotorMouth”!
Great Start guys!
I just saw some participants coming through Temple on Hwy 113 heading north.
Heading to the lake in dalton Georgia and passed some racers cars look great. God bless
Attended the lunch stop on the Court Square in Newnan, GA. Fantastic cars, entertaining commentary from Corky and Mike, nothing but smiles from the drivers/navigators, and lots of interest and questions from the spectators. Everybody seemed to be having fun. Safe travels, all.
