Despite bad weather, closed roads and more bad weather, we have landed in Davenport, Iowa for the evening! We had all sorts of obstacles to conquer, from rock slides and fallen trees to washed-out creeks and flooded roads, but we’re here, and we’re safe, so that’s all that matters. Our day started in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and we actually had to make a last minute route change, thus throwing out the first few legs of the day’s route. Eventually, we made it to Dubuque, Iowa for lunch and ate a delicious BBQ sandwich and followed that with a sack of kettle corn! From there, we passed through the small town of Bellevue, Iowa, which was packed with spectators, as the race came through town, passing by the Mississippi River. We then hit the back roads and saw plenty of rolling hills in the Iowa farmland. Now, we’re camped out in Davenport, Iowa and combing through all of our pictures and video. Check out our favorite shots of the day, and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for up-to-the-minute updates!
God be with each and everyone of you.. Hope your stay in Davenport is enjoyable.. Iowa people are the best…
Enjoyed the wide variety of cars. It was good to see such great cars being driven and not just in a museum. The true
Enjoyment is the the drive not just the destination. Hope to see a river road Great Race come through Quadcities in 2014.
Talking to the teams was very interesting to hear some of the stories of past races.
