On the final day of competition in the 2014 Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty, there is always a lot of tension in the air and this year was no different. With less than a half second separating the first and second overall position, it came down to a tricky morning route to determine the winner. Our morning started earlier than normal, with the first cars leaving Jacksonville at 7am. From there, we rolled to Ocala, Florida, where we had an outstanding stop at National Parts Depot. The fine folks at NPD opened their doors and fed us a wonderful lunch in the midst of its awesome car collection. After lunch, the teams made their way to The Villages, Florida for the finish, where they would be greeted by a crowd of thousands! We’ll touch more on the Grand Finish in another post so stay tuned!
Congratulations to all the finishers – Especially the rookies and X-cup teams! Next time we’re in Florida to visit our daughter and her family, we have to stop by NPD to see that magnificent car collection.
