There is no doubt that Canada has some of the most beautiful scenery and our racers saw it today! We saw more wooden bridges today, as well as a number of lakes, creeks and other bodies of water! We even saw an elk today, but it had apparently been involved in an accident overnight. Even with it lying on the side of the road, you could see just how huge these animals are….it’s just a good thing that one of our crew didn’t hit it! Aside from that, we had twists and turns on the very challenging route, which had tricky speed changes and intersections.

We rolled into our lunch stop at beautiful Parry Sound, Ontario and had a great meal at the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame. After lunch, it was back on the clock for a while, until we got to the Big Chute Marine Railway, which is an amazing sight! It’s a one-of-a-kind lock system that transports boats across the road on a massive piece of machinery that rides on rails, just like a train. A complex system of cables powered it and it offered a huge wow factor for the racers, as they took a 25-minute afternoon break.

The weather was quite cool all day, with a strong breeze, but a great deal of sunshine kept us warm for most of the day. However, a brief rain shower passed through Barrie, Ontario during out dinner stop downtown. We had a great turnout in Barrie, and the location worked out well, offering a nice view of the water, and the extremely cool downtown area. The showers didn’t hinder the crowd, and we packed up at 7:30 and headed back to the hotel for rest, repairs and whatever else gets in the way!
