Cheyenne is the real West, full of cowboys on horseback, and the Great Race will roll into that awesome Wyoming city on Wednesday, June 22, right in the middle of the Western Writers Conference. Thousands of spectators including many aspiring Western novelists and magazine writers will fill Depot Plaza downtown along the Union Pacific rail line to watch the 100 antique automobiles arrive after the toughest day on the 2016 event.
Cars will be on display starting at 5:15 p.m. and the racers will eat in the historic depot. As they finish the day crossing the arch just a few feet from the Lincoln Highway, the state capitol will be to the racers backs making for many great photo opportunities. The following day, racers will head north instead of east and make their way to the Black Hills of South Dakota, including a side trip to Mount Rushmore before the finish in Rapid City.
I am the managing director of the Cheyenne Little Theatre. We have a beautiful historic theatre on 211 West Lincolnway in downtown cheyenne and would love to open the lobby for live music ( we also have a bar.) Please contact me at (307) 638-6543 if you have questions, suggestions or ideas!
