For the Great Race staff, Thursday is usually one of the busiest days on the entire race, even though we’re still a couple days away from dropping the green flag. For 2016, it was not only busy for the staff, but also busy for the racers, who had a full list of options for the day’s activities. None of the options were mandatory, but some folks wanted to hit it all, and we don’t blame them! First on the agenda was registration and tech inspection, where the cars would be checked out for safety and for Great Race scoring. Then, racers had the option to go south toward San Francisco for a special photo opportunity with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Another cool opportunity included making a few laps at the legendary Sonoma Raceway, (previously known as “Sears Point”, “Infineon Raceway”, etc.). Racers could also get a private tour of Charlie Goodman’s car collection, but we couldn’t snap any photos to share with you here. Lastly, the whole gang hopped on a dinner cruise boat and toured the San Francisco Bay for a couple hours. It was a long day, and we want to share some of the highlights. Tomorrow is another action packed day, with the Hagerty Trophy Run among other pre-race activities!
Great pics of some classic cars. Beautiful background shots.
Glad you are enjoying our beautiful county. It was great to see you all in San Rafael this a.m.
Good luck on your journey. I’ll enjoy the pix you post. p
