James Goode, from Jefferson City, Missouri, and driver of car #81 in the last several Great Races, has an interesting project he is working on for Brad Epple. Its a 1915 Chalmers roadster that used to belong to longtime Great Racer Joe Alackness of Pennsylvania. Chalmers are very rare and are considered one of the truly great brass era automobiles. It is believed that this is the only 15 roadster to exist.
Epple, also from Jefferson City, Missouri, bought the car from two-time Great Race champion Howard Sharp, who got the car in a package deal from Alackness. Sharp kept the 15 Chalmers touring car that came in the deal. Epple, who campaigned the last two Great Races in an awesome 1934 Ford Produce Delivery Truck with his son Dan, has talked about entering an older car in future events. Could this be the one? If so, it looks like Goode has a lot of work to do, but it would be the oldest car in race next year at 101 years.
