I am in awe of the organization required behind the scenes to make what happens in front of the racers and the crowds appear to be so calm and natural! Today was truly incredible! Starting with a tremendous start from the Beach at Ogunquit, Maine…fabulous weather. a great crowd and Great Racers ready to show their stuff, to our lunch stop in quaint Rochester, New Hampshire, to the hustle and bustle of downtown Lowell, Massachusetts for our night stop, everything was like clockwork! I am so impressed with the “green shirt” volunteers, who make every venue come alive. The town/city selection and preparedness by those local committees has been truly spectacular! The bottom line…probably the best ‘first’ day ever in my Great Race experience. Having Grand Marshall Bob Varsha of Fox Sports fame, and Wayne Carini of , “Chasing Classic Cars” on board has only added to the excitement.
And tomorrow is another day… Bennington, Vermont and Poughkeepsie, NY, here comes the Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty!
What a sight at the Main Beach in Ogunquit. The sun, surf and Amazing Cars! My favorite moment was when a little boy peeked inside a car and discovered the Speedometer and the Clock…we explained no cell phones, no GPS. He was about seven and stunned….in his world every car has GPS. Good luck on Day 2!!
Will Wayne Carini be at the finish when the racers reach The Villages? Good luck on day #2 everyone.
I was at your Lowell stop – very impressive and I just want give a big thanks to the crew that has put this together. Great Job to ALL involved.
