Several months ago, the folks at the Concours of America at St. Johns came up with a fantastic idea to have a Great Race class at their world-class concours. They invited 10 top current and former cars from the race, and it was a wonderful show.
But there were plenty of Great Racers at the event with either cars in other classes or just there as spectators. Ted and Mary Stahl were there with three cars Ted with the Leslie Special and the Hannibal 8 at the entrance to the event and Mary with their one-off L-29 Cord.
Dan and Bret Stahl was also there, as were Steve Plaster, Carol Plaster, Michael Plaster, Mark Hyman, Tim Mitchell and Alex Mitchell.
There were also former Great Race cars on display in other classes, including Curtis Grafs former 1911 Olds Autocrat and Jeff Lanes 1948 Tetra.
And Dale and Susan McClenaghan sent over Jack Roushs 1934 Bohnalite Special, the winning car in the 2003 Great Race. Unfortunately, Dale and Susan were not able to make the event.
You can still see the Ace stickers in the rear window of Jeff Lane’s 1948 Tatra.
