The September 30 deadline for a $500 discount toward the 2013 Great Race entry fee is fast approaching, and with the 30th falling on a Sunday race director Jeff Stumb has announced that he will accept any deposits postmarked by Monday, October 1.
This is the only discount available for the 2013 event, so I want to make sure everyone has a chance to send their deposit in, he said. But it must be postmarked by Oct. 1 to get the $500 discount.
The way the discount works is this: A race participant must send in at least a $2,000 deposit for the 2013 entry fee by the Oct. 1 deadline. The balance of the entry fee is due by Dec. 31, 2012, in order to receive the $500 discount. Private entry fee is $4,500 (or $4,000 after the discount) and the corporate entry fee is $5,750 (or $5,250 after the discount).
The Great Race will begin Saturday, June 22, in St. Paul, Minnesota, at the Back to the 50s car show and end Sunday, June 30, in downtown Mobile, Alabama, after spending nine days along the Great River Road and other scenic backroads near the Mississippi River.
This years winner will take home the $50,000 grand prize out of a total purse of $150,000, based on 100 entries.
