What can I say? We left Barrie with high expectations for Stage 4. It was all that we had hoped for and more… The drive to Huntsville, on down Highway 60 through Algonquin Park was beautiful. While I did n’t see the hoped for moose, many of our staff and racers reported sightings. Our lunch stop in Barry’s Bay was a hit. Many from Madawaska Valley were there, including the Mayor, the Warden and The Member of the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Yakabuski, who lead us in the singing of O Canada! The crowd was great, the setting, Hwy 60 was perfect as well! Leaving Barry’s Bay towards Kanata, I grew more anxious. Kanata is my hometown. The Hazledean Mall is my local mall. The Tuesday night car show in support of CHEO is where you’ll find me most Tuesday nights. What a great turn out… 350 local cars welcomed the Great Racers with enthusiasm! There was a huge crowd who supported both the racers, the local 50/50 draw and the Great Race Auction for CHEO. I’m at my own home tonight, with my family. This blog will be brief. Tonight, I’m tired. By tomorrow morning I’ll be re-energised and ready for Kingston. I am so privileged to be able to be “MotorMouth” travelling with great people and a great organization!
Good night!
Living in Bridlewod Kanata, our family is regular visitor of the Tuesday night car show at Hazeldean Mall. It was only by chance that we ended up seeing some of the Great Race participants crossing the line – we had never heard of the Great Race before! Now we know more about it after reading this blog and this is in fact a GREAT race!
Congratulations to all participants! This must be so exciting to ride old automobiles for such a long distance.
Thanks for the (unexpected!) great experience. We’ll make sure to look for the it mext time it passes by Ottawa!

Thank you Stanley,

Hi Brian. What a night in Kanata. Mike and I brought our #59 Legends class 1934 Ford Coupe to represent Capital City Speedway!!!!! Really enjoyed the evening. We estimate about 50 children and a few adults were brave or curious enough to sit in the #59. Terrific evening talking racing, Cap City, met so many race fans and enthusiasts! Good luck to all!
Thanks Sandi,
The Great Race has been an awesome adventure once again…glad that you enjoyed the crowds at Kanata! Thanks for having the Legends car there!
