There are not too many people who love the Great Race more than Steve and Janet Hedke. Like most teams who have competed in the race more than three or four times, the event becomes part of your life. And that is so true of Steve and Janet and their daughter Allison. And now that they are fast approaching more than two decades being involved in the Great Race it is common to see them win a day and finish in the Top 5 overall, as they did last year in their 1964 Studebaker Daytona. Many people ask them, and other married couples, “How do you do this and stay married?” Well, LeMay — America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, the site of the finish of the 2019 Great Race, asked that very question, and the Santa Clarita couple will be in Tacoma next month to give a talk on just that. By the way, the Studebaker has been on display in the lobby of ACM since the end of the race there in late June.
Here is how the museum is promoting the program:
How to Win the Great Race…and Stay Married!
The Great Race is so much more than just a race – it is a cross-country tour, car show, endurance competition, and a “family reunion.” For over 20 years, husband and wife team Janet and Steve Hedke have participated in the Great Race, and have managed to keep their cool in doing so! Join us for an evening with the couple as they stop at LeMay – America’s Car Museum, to pick up their 2019 top ten winning vehicle, a 1964 Studebaker Daytona, and share their combined experience participating in the Great Race, choosing the best car, navigating the course, and about how you can get involved (plus a few fun stories from the road!).
Refreshments and light bites will be available during the program.
